Although born in Kentucky, Mark calls Texas home. He has served as Pastor to churches in Texas and Arkansas. He and his wife, Sherry, have two children. Kristen is married to Dr. Osvaldo Padilla and is a free-lance writer for the WMU. They have one son, Philip. Kimberly is married to Alex Beasley and is a stay-at-home mom with their son, Nathan and twin girls, Emma and Caroline.
Mark has pastored First Baptist Church since March of 2009. He graduated from Howard Payne University and Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. Currently, he is pursuing his Doctor of Ministry through Logsdon Seminary.

Minister of Music
Alan came to serve as Minister of Music at First Baptist Church in January of 2015. Alan is a graduate of the University of Central Oklahoma and Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. He has over 30 years of ministry experience having served churches in Texas, Oklahoma and Georgia. Alan married Lynda in August of 1980 and they have two grown children, Meagan and Kylie (also two dogs - CJ, the three legged lab, and Cooper, a miniature dachshund; 3 granddogs - Oliver, Parker - both miniature dachshunds and Nala, a mixed breed.) Alan and Lynda enjoy traveling, camping and hiking.
Alan's passion is preparing and leading meaningful experiences of worship for the body of Christ. He also enjoys participating in and leading music mission trips.
Jonathan serves as the Youth Pastor, which includes students in Grades 7-12. A native of South Carolina, Jonathan has served at First Baptist since January of 2011. His passions in ministry are seeing students growing closer to God and missions. Jonathan has been married to Rebekah for 9 years and they have 2 daughters, Elizabeth, 9 and Anna 5. Mike serves as the Minister of Adults and Administration. He was born in Lakeland Florida on September 14, 1944. Mike worked for General Telephone Company of Florida for thirteen years until God called him into full time Christian service in January, 1976. He graduated from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, TX in December, 1977 with a diploma in Religious Education. Mike served at First Baptist Church of West Palm Beach, FL from 1978-1980 and moved to First Baptist Church in Big Spring in February of 1981. His hobbies include woodworking, carpentry, golf, and grandchildren.
Minister of Children and Preschool
Justin is the Minister of Children. Justin has an undergraduate degree from the University of Florida and and Master of Arts from New Orleans Baptist Seminary. He is maried to Megan and they have one young daughter.
Minister of Discipleship
John serves as Minister of Discipleship, which means he seeks to lead the church to be intentional and strategic in living out the Great Commission command of making reproducing disciples. He began serving at First Baptist in 2016 after serving as a Minister of Education in churches in Florida and Texas for 28 years. Most recently he and his wife, Lucy, served as Team Strategy Leaders and church planters with the International Mission Board in Belgium for 8.5 years. John and Lucy married in 1974 and have one daughter, Megan, who also lives in Big Spring. He earned a Bachelor of Science Degree from the University of Florida, a Master of Religious Education Degree from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary and a Doctor of Educational Ministries Degree from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. Mother's Day Out Coordinator
Tracy leads the Mother's Day Out ministry, a 2 days a week preschool, here at First Baptist. She is married to Lewis and they have two children, a son, who is a junior in college, and a daughter, who is a senior in high school.
Church Receptionist and Secretary
Beth manages the day to day secretarial duties of the church as well as providing a welcoming greeting in the church office. Beth is the newest member of the First Baptist Big Spring team having started in February of 2016. She is married to to David Spence. She received her Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Angelo State University. Beth and David moved to Coahoma in 2008 and joined the family at First Baptist Church in 2008. She enjoys her time with her two granddaughters and gardening.
Tiana is married to Lonny and they have two children Brittney and Bryce. She received a Bachelor of Science Degree with an emphasis in Accounting from Lubbock Christian University. The Hergerts moved to Big Spring from Lubbock in May of 2005. They joined the First Baptist Church family in 2009. One of her favorite verses is Ephesians 4:32, "And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God in Christ forgave you."
Lynda serves in the area of Music and Youth Ministry. Lynda brings a wealth of experience in church ministry and is excited to be a part of First Baptist Big Spring.
Media Center Director
Erven Fisher, Media Library director, is a World War 2 Navy veteran and retired district manager for the Social Security Administration. He and his wife Dean have been members of First Baptist Church since 1985, and Erven has served as a deacon since 1985. Erven’s education is in Liberal Arts, with a major in education and his media center training has been gained through attendance at seminars at Lifeway’s Church Library Conferences, usually held at Glorieta Conference Center in New Mexico. He and his wife Dean are the parents of four children, grandparents of seven and great grandparents of four.
Donald serves in the area of Custodian and Maintainence and does a fabulous job helping keep the facility up and running smoothly.
Courtney is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), as well as a Board Certified Christian Counselor (BCCC). She attained her Masters of Arts Degree in Counseling from Wayland Baptist University in Plainview, TX, in 2012. She counsels individuals (age 5 and up), couples, and families. Courtney is married to Bryce, and they have three young boys. She enjoys singing, crafts, movies, and spending time with her family. Her passion is to serve others with grace and love in whatever form God may use her. A focus verse for her life is, “May you experience the love of Christ, though it is too great to understand fully. Then you will be made complete with all the fullness of life and power that comes from God.” Ephesians 3:19
